Join us downtown at Armory Park and get your body moving for the New Year!
The Children’s Museum – Tucson and Armory Park Senior Center have teamed up with a wide range of community health and fitness groups to host an event that promises to be the largest number of body moving options available in a single location!
Whatever type of body movement inspires you, you are sure to find it here! There are fun activities planned for every age group, body type and fitness level.
At 12pm- Livable Streets Alliance and El Grupo Youth Cycling will host a family-friendly bicycle ride around downtown neighborhoods.
At 1 pm - Uzo Dance Methods and partners will be teaching Beyonce’s Move Your Body Flash Dance routine from the main stage.
At 2 pm - You can take a historical tour led by historian Ken Scoville and walk around and learn about the history of the area nearby.
At 3pm - Meet Me Concepts will host a special Saturday edition of their Meet Me at Maynards Walk/Run around its usual route, but with a new twist – start/end from Armory Park…so I guess that makes it a Meet Me at Armory Park!
And the options don’t end there!
Be on the look out for Cross Fit Kids and Grow to be Fit’s fun, non-competitive, team-building, full-body motion activities on the lawn.
In between, check out various stations located throughout the block and inside Armory Park Community Center. You will find classes for Yoga, Tai-Chi, Line Dancing, Ballroom Dancing, Table Tennis, Shuffleboard, Bocce, Double Dutch Jump Roping, We Move Fit Classes, Jumping Castles and Rock Climbing.
Which body-moving boogie do you prefer – Zumba or Jazzercise? Join us for the Community Dance Fest and you find out. Jazzercise starts at 12 pm and Zumba at 2 pm – both from the Main Stage in Armory Park.
You can also take self-guided tours of downtown by participating in Warehouse Management Organization’s Art Gallery Walk or Activate Tucson’s Downtown Fitness Scavenger Hunt and learn all about the cool new happenings downtown while getting some fresh air and exercise.
A coalition of groups coordinated by Community Partnership of Southern Arizona, Tucson Medical Center and University of Arizona Health Network will be on hand for the BEYOND Community Health Resource Fair to get you connected to free and low-cost wellness programs in the community that will keep you going all year long.
Hungry? You can pick up a nutritious lunch or snack from one of the Food Trucks or purchase a meal from the Armory Park Senior Club. After it all winds down, stay and enjoy a delicious dinner downtown at any number of participating restaurants.
