Park Rx is a public health initiative of the U.S. National Park Service’s “Healthy Parks, Healthy People” program.  Beyond Foundation is proud to bring Park Rx to Southern Arizona by partnering with Tucson healthcare providers who prescribe time outdoors in nature for their patients overall well-being.

The physical, social and mental health benefits of spending quality time outdoors have been well documented. For a quick check-list detailing potential health benefits click HERE.

How Does Park Rx Work?  Healthcare professionals work with their patients to develop an appropriate routine using nearby neighborhood parks, where they can meet up with ParkRx Guides on a weekly basis to do fun physical activities that meet their individualized health goals.

ParkRx Guides also organize additional outdoor ‘field trip’ excursions to various public lands around Pima county region each month to add additional natural environment experiences for participants.  Opportunites can be found on our calendar of events pages.

New Medical Providers and/or Participants who want to sign up to participate in the program, please contact Diego Martinez Barrera at or call (520) 304-4611 or send us an email HERE.
